GAPS Privacy Statement

The following privacy statement tells you how we hold and use your information if you are a member of GAPS or if you sign up to our mailing list.

Who we are – Group for the Advancement of Psychodynamics and Psychotherapy in Social Work (GAPS) is a registered charity (Registered UK Charity no. 290726).  We promote relationship-based approaches, and psychodynamic and systemic thinking in social work.  GAPS is the owner of The Journal of Social Work Practice.

What we will do with your information – If you subscribe to our mailing list, the details you provide will be stored electronically using an online mailing list service 1.  We will use this information to inform you about GAPS’ activities and to invite you to events. You may unsubscribe from this list at any time.

What we will do with your information – If you are a paid member of GAPS, we will retain the contact details you provided as well as records relating to your membership renewals2. We also use your name and email-address as login credentials on our website3 in order that you can access The Journal for Social Work Practice online.  We will use the information you have provided if we need to contact you regarding your membership of GAPS. If you let us know that you no longer wish to be a member of GAPS we will delete your information.

Who your information will be shared with – We will not share your details with any other party or organisation without prior agreement.  However, if you are a paid member of GAPS your name and postal address is given to our publishers (Taylor & Francis) so that you can receive The Journal of Social Work Practice in print. Our publishers will not share your details with any other party or organisation.

  1. This service has annually certified their agreement to EU/US and Swiss Safe Harbor Frameworks since 2007.
  2. This information is kept on secure servers certified under the EU-US Privacy Shield framework.
  3. Our website host is working towards ISO27001 and certification has certified its compliance to the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of personal data from the European Union countries.

Do you have an idea for a short article you could write for GAPS?

We offer an authors' fee of £400 per article.

Practice Development Bursaries

GAPS Members may apply for bursaries to fund, for example, conference attendance, setting up a work discussion group, running a workshop, or other practice development opportunities.
