This in-person workshop will build on our ongoing knowledge of how trauma impacts, brain, mind and behaviour causing the development of survival adaptations which can be functional in one context and restraining or problematic in another.

In this workshop we move beyond the exploration of the individual to think about how trauma impacts, people, staff, leaders and whole systems. We will be looking at how seeing through the trauma lens allows us to make thoughtful shifts in how we respond at individual, managerial and whole system level to become trauma-informed.

The workshop will draw on the experience of its participants in their role as service user facing professionals, managers, leaders and members of systems under enormous pressure.

Trauma informed practice takes account of the ways in which brain’s survival system adapts in response to abuse and neglect, developing strategies that later become unhelpful and often self sabotaging. Survival behaviours in children impact whole systems, with parents, carers and teachers being triggered into their own survival roles.  This workshop is for people who have a basic understanding of trauma informed practice.

There will be refreshments throughout the day and a hot vegetarian/vegan lunch.  We have a very limited number of places available for this in person event – Please only register if you are able to protect the time in your diary.
